As a Digital Designer at Manta Sleep, you’ll work under the guidance of the Creative Director and collaborate closely with other team members to produce visually compelling assets that bring our brand vision to life. You’ll be responsible for both creative execution and ongoing design support tasks - turning direction into beautiful, effective visuals while maintaining consistency and quality across all channels. This role combines creative problem-solving with hands-on design production work such as adapting, resizing, and preparing deliverables for multiple platforms.

Proficiency in English as a first language is essential for this role.

Time zone: Full-time within South Africa or Europe

👀 WHO WE ACTUALLY NEED (and who we don’t)

• This isn’t for freelancers moonlighting or wanting a side hustle.
  
• It’s not for someone who feels uncomfortable taking initiative, and who may need a lot of handholding.

This is however for someone who:

• Has 4+ years of graphic design (digital focus) experience, preferably within an agency or a fast-paced brand environment.
  
• Maintains a strong portfolio that clearly showcases digital graphics, branding, basic animation, photo retouching, and packaging design.
  
• Is strongly proficient in core design tools, including Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and Figma for creating assets across email campaigns, ads, social media, and presentations.
  
• Has a proficiency in After Effects or Premiere for basic animation (a definite plus).
  
• Is familiar with AI tools for generating images and video (like Sora, Midjourney, etc.) and understands their application in design.
  
• Possesses strong English communication skills (both written and verbal) to effectively articulate design rationale and collaborate seamlessly.
  
• Is comfortable presenting and discussing work with the Creative Director and broader team to gain feedback and ensure alignment.
  
• Is self-driven, dependable, and capable of efficiently balancing high-level creative work with necessary design-related production tasks in a fast-moving environment.
  

🎯 WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

• Bring the creative vision to life by designing and producing cohesive digital elements for high-impact channels, including the website, email campaigns, digital ads, and social media.
  
• Actively support the development and execution of branding materials, ensuring strict adherence to our corporate identity across all deliverables.
  
• Manage all ongoing design support, including adapting layouts, resizing graphics, and meticulously preparing final deliverables for multiple formats and channels.
  
• Perform advanced photo retouching, color editing, and digital mockups, leveraging AI tools where appropriate for efficiency and quality.
  
• Produce basic animations to enhance our visual storytelling and create engaging product presentations.
  
• Work closely within the creative team and with external partners to ensure smooth project delivery, and proactively contribute ideas toward UI/UX improvements to strengthen digital engagement.

3. Technical Interview: a 30 - 45-minute conversation with the hiring manager to dig deeper into your experience, mindset, and fit.
   
4. Paid test assignment: a realistic task (2–3 days to complete) that reflects the kind of work you’d actually do here.
   
5. Final Interview: Usually with our CEO, as a final seal of approval
   
6. Offer + onboarding: if it’s a match, we move quickly
